Avet JX Series
The Avet JX series reels are powerful lever drag models built for medium to heavy offshore fishing, with their main difference being spool width. The JX has a narrower spool, making it ideal for jigging and easier line management.
Core Raptor Plus Features:
The "Raptor" name signifies Avet's highest performance level, showcasing a Dual Carbon Fiber Drag System that doubles the maximum drag compared to standard reels, all while allowing for smooth free-spooling. Both models provide up to 28 lbs of drag at strike and 38 lbs at full power. They are constructed from machined 6061-T6 marine-grade aluminum, include nine stainless steel ball bearings, and utilize a silent dog-and-gear anti-reverse system. The "Plus" versions come with ergonomic improvements like an offset handle arm to reduce wobble and a large, comfortable soft-touch handle knob.
Magic Cast (MC) vs. Non-MC Models:
Anglers can choose between reels featuring Avet's patented Magic Cast Control System or the standard version. The MC-equipped models have a numbered dial (1–5), employing magnets to adjust spool speed and prevent backlashes or bird's nests—a feature highly recommended by Tackle Express reviewers for its user-friendliness, especially when casting under different conditions. Standard models, which lack the magnetic brake, require manual spool control ("thumbing") and are usually favored by experienced casters who want to maximize casting distance or by those primarily using the reel for vertical jigging and bottom fishing where casting isn't a main concern.
